Download bonbox

Available on iOS, Android, and as a web app. Pick your platform.

Sign in

Use Google, Apple, or start anonymously. Your data syncs across all your devices when signed in.

Add your first receipt

Tap the + button, snap a photo or import a file. bonbox extracts amount, date, and vendor automatically.

Receipts & Scanning

The Receipts tab is your home screen. It shows a financial summary at the top (income, expenses, balance) and all your receipts grouped by date.

Adding receipts

  • Snap a photo — OCR extracts amount, date, and vendor
  • Import a file — PDF receipts, invoices, or documents
  • Import an image — From your photo library
  • Add manually — Enter details by hand

Categorization

Each receipt can be assigned a Swiss tax category (Goods & Material, Software & IT, Marketing, Personnel, etc.). When you scan a document, bonbox automatically suggests a tax category. It also learns from your choices — assign a category to a vendor once, and bonbox remembers it for next time. Tax categories align with the Swiss Erfolgsrechnung for your tax return.

Tax report details

Set a private percentage per receipt for mixed-use expenses. Only the business portion counts toward your tax report. Purpose, project, and customer assigned to a receipt also appear in your tax report — giving your accountant more context.

Invoices & QR Bills

Create professional invoices with Swiss QR payment codes. Your clients can pay directly from their e-banking app by scanning the QR code.

Creating an invoice

  1. Go to Invoices tab and tap +
  2. Select or create a customer
  3. Add line items with quantity, unit price, and optional discount
  4. Set due date and language (DE, EN, FR, IT)
  5. Generate as PDF with QR payment slip

Setup for QR bills

Go to Profile → Company Details and enter your company name, address, and IBAN. This is required for QR bill generation.

Invoice tracking

Track invoice status (created / paid). Auto-generated invoice numbers follow the format YYMMDD-NNN. Mark invoices as paid to create a payment receipt automatically.

Projects & Budgets

Group receipts by project to track spending per client or initiative. Set budgets and monitor how much is remaining.

Creating a project

  • Give it a name and optional color
  • Set an optional budget
  • Assign a customer for easy reference

Tracking

The project detail view shows expenses vs. income, budget progress, and all linked receipts broken down by category. Assign receipts to projects from the receipt detail screen.

Reports & Tax

The Reports tab gives you a financial overview with income vs. expenses and category breakdowns. Filter by month, year, or all time.

Tax reports

Generate a yearly tax report as PDF with all income and expenses grouped by Swiss tax categories. Includes your company details. Send directly to your accountant or use for your tax return.

Import

  • Bank statements — Upload your bank export and bonbox creates receipts from transactions
  • CSV files — Import receipts from spreadsheets with automatic duplicate detection
  • PDF / Images — Import receipt documents directly

  • Invoice PDFs — Each invoice as a shareable PDF with QR code

bonbox supports any currency. Set your default currency in Profile, and bonbox converts all statistics and reports automatically.

Pro Tips

Set up your company profile first

Go to Profile → Company Details and fill in name, address, IBAN, and VAT number. This unlocks QR bill invoicing and includes your details on tax reports.

Reuse customers everywhere

Create customers once, then link them to receipts, invoices, and projects. Saves time and keeps your data consistent.

Use filters to find incomplete entries

Filter receipts by missing image or Beleg to quickly find entries that still need a document attached.

Sync across all platforms

Sign in with Google or Apple and your data syncs automatically across iPhone, Android, desktop, and web. Start on your phone, continue on your laptop.

Bulk edit on the web

Use bonbox web to select multiple receipts and edit categories, tax categories, or projects in bulk.

Enrich your tax report

Purpose, project, and customer assigned to a receipt will appear in your tax report — giving your accountant more context.
